Sep. 13th, 2010 06:52 pmThe really important stuff first: Don't you love when you're making a meal or dish for the first time, without any real recipe, and it turns out perfectly? I made this... it's sort of a veggie version of mac and cheese, that my mother's always done. It's basically a casserole of tricolor rotini, carrots, broccoli, and peas, with a tofu bechamel. So I mean, it's not complex, but I made it blind, just thinking about what must be in it, and it was awesome.

I'm with Nat, genre and site are two different things. And I'm also with her as far as liking journal sites best. Years and years ago, I first played Harry Potter games on Invision Power Boards, but I was reading some fanfiction and playing in fic exchanges on Livejournal. A girl I knew on there was starting a game, and I played Ron. The game split in two, both sides got super dramatic, a while later I quit the game and took a bit of time off. I decided to start a different HP game, but moved to IJ after I found out that you got 100 free icons instead of 15. :P
And with genre, I'm going to have to say that Harry Potter still holds a special place in my heart. The number of people playing HP games seems to be dwindling, as does the number of games that aren't what I call Harry-Potter-With-A-TWIST. I miss the days of good games based directly on the books, where people just want to play one of the characters with other people who love the stories. Now everyone is playing Next-Gen! :( One of my dearest friends and I have been chatting about making a game that's all interaction, none of the linked-journal business that everyone really relies on these days, and just play the last few months of Deathly Hallows (Since let's face it, the first half is totally Harry Potter and the Very Long Camping Trip). But we've been chatting since like... April? And I think we're dragging our feet because I don't know if anyone would even want to play at that sort of game anymore. The idea is there, but not fully formed, so I guess my point is that Harry Potter is my roots, and I'm not ashamed of that at all. I love those books, and the wonderful games they can inspire.
