I feel like with this whole show, yes, there are some valid criticisms if you sit down and dissect it, but it's about the overall experience of watching, which I find immensely enjoyable. Also if we grade on a curve with the rest of television, please see the entire programming line-up of Oxygen, Lifetime, and MTV/VH1 for reasons why The Newsroom is fucking phenomenal.

I HAD ALL THESE ~FEELS~, OK. Because 9/11 is etched in my brain for eternity, as well as the day Obama spoke to us. And to watch it play out again was just FANTASTIC. Because it hit pretty close to home and it wasn't done in a flippant manner.

Plus, watching Jim and Maggie's sexual tension is enough to satiate my appetite for a whole week. (Also question: why the hell did Lisa start dating Jim, if she knew that Maggie liked him? Awkberg.)

The only thing I thought was missing (and, I'm okay with it being missing because of the scope of the episode) was that it was actually super creepy how afterwards, the news coverage showed people around the country cheering like mad and doing victory parties or dances, that kind of stuff. They kind of carried it with Neal's girlfriend, and her quiet contemplation/struggle, but... while the world is undoubtedly a better place without that man in it and I would never agree with him on anything, I got the heebie jeebies while watching so many people get gleeful over a gov't sanctioned murder.

My guess is that Lisa dated Jim because he's adorable and if Maggie isn't going to nab him, she might as well. And then he unfortunately doesn't get over Maggie in the way Lisa might have hoped, even though with the time delay they're together for like, 4+ months (which I think gets lost, and helps justify her statement of love a tiny bit). If this is more like West Wing than Studio 60, we won't really see Maggie/Jim until pretty near the end of the show, either. And that's fair. In the teaser for future episodes when Jim says to Lisa that he isn't going to be someone's second choice (presumably in reference to Maggie), that's a reasonable feeling; he's been through over a year of her and Don breaking up and making up.

Is it just me, or would Don/Sloan be awesomely good? >.> I saw it coming a while ago, but the last two weeks have really reinforced my want for it.

I read that as gives my television orgasms.

And then I imagined a little TV smoking a post-Aaron cigarette.
