I am a Western New Yorker born and raised. My parents are from the Finger Lakes. New York is in my bones. Also Michigan and Florida, but mostly New York. I have never been to NYC though.
the whole damn world assumes the city when you say you're from NY! and when you're from a tiny-ass town, you can't really say, "Oh, I'm from Jeffersonville!" like people from, idk, Albany or Rochester might. :(
